STATEMENT:

You are presented with an endless amount of interests, but the pattern of my interest has been evident in my entire existence. As a child, my first cherished memory is that of being able to stand in a river, leading me to my continued appreciation of the natural world around me. However, with that appreciation, I have been led to this never-ceasing desire to bring this sense of a natural environment to unnatural places, that is where we dwell, the city. I feel, as many others feel, there is a lack of green spaces in cities as well as a lack of connectedness between our food and our being. It is my vision as an artist to recreate and affirm the desire of people to regain or reaffirm the consciousness and appreciation of the natural world and allow the personal tending of vegetables through community gardens. I am also interested in education in theme with urban agriculture.

My selected “audience” will be children in public schools within my neighborhood, and positively inviting community members to join.
